Zhaohui received BS degree in Electronics Science and Technology from The PLA Information Engineering University in 2009， MS degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Shanghai JiaoTong University in 2013.
During the postgraduate period, he participated in many projects. Between 2012/04 and 2013/06, he used nodejs to develop the VDC (Virtual Data Center) platform which based on openstack api. From 2011/07 to 2012/04, he joined in the development of mobile social application Taguage(Beta) .
In Nov. 2013, he Joined in OMNILab as assistant research fellow and engineer. He focused on the technologies about cloud computing, big data and internet of things.
Yaohui Jin is a professor of State Key Lab of Advanced Optical Communication Systems and Networks, and deputy director of Network & Information Center, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Before he joined Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2002, he was a member of technical staff at Bell Labs Research China. His research interests include civic engagement and open innovation, cloud computing network architecture, and streaming data analysis. He led deployment and operation of OpenStack, Hadoop, and CKAN open source environments in SJTU campus. He is the founder of OMNILab, which is an open innovation lab focusing on data analysis. In 2014, OMNILab won the champion of CCF national big data challenge among nearly 1000 teams, and won the champion of Shanghai open data innovation and creation competition. He served more than 10 technical committees. He published more than 100 technical papers in leading conferences and journals and owned more than 10 patents. He enthuses public service and science popularization, actively promotes crowd engaged innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration.
I am Honglun Zhang, a Ph.D. candidate with Prof. Yaohui Jin at Shanghai Jiao Tong Univ.. I received my B.S. (2014) of Electronic Information Engineering at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China.
My research area is time series data mining, more specifically, analysis and prediction of time serial data for prognostics and health monitoring. I am interested in data mining with R and python, always enthusiastic to absorb new knowledge and deeply engaged in the process of becoming better.
I become a master of SJTU at OMNILab on 13th September 2014.During last year, I have ever been a member to held the activity of the air quality of SJTU campus workshop. And I am interested in arduino and have ever involve in “sensor city”, an activity to created a DIY sensor network using arduino to measure air quality. My research area is embedded system and sensor network.
Main research interest includes: big data and data mining. Current researches focus on spatio-temporal data mining and human mobility behavior analysis. Also interested in natural language processing, social network analysis, big data processing platform implementation, and data visualization.
OpenSource Shi is a young and sunshine master candidate with Prof. Yaohui Jin at Shanghai Jiao Tong Univ. He received his B.E. (2013) of Information Science and Technology at Southeast University, Jiang Su, China. His research area is the data analysis,mining and visualization, especially on the public opinion data, crawling from new media & SNS such as weibo and wechat. “Knowing a number of everything, life will be more colorful” is his philosophic theory.
As a junior PhD student, I’m rotating in groups at OmniLab. Now I’m focusing on IoT(Internet of Things), developing Internet of Things Systems, studying IoT protocols.
I am now a Master with Prof. Yaohui Jin at Shanghai Jiao Tong Univ.. I come from Shandong province and joined the lovely OMNILAB in March, 2014.
My research area is the analysis of mobile network traffic and spatio-temporal data，employing statistical and machine learning techniques on distributed processing platforms such as Apache Spark. Based on the large scale observation of human movement in mobile networks, the current topic I am engaging in is analyzing and predicting human spatial and temporal behavior from networking perspective. I am learning financial knowledge and analysis these days driven by interest, trying to apply big data methods in financial quantization and investment.
I will be a master student with Prof. Yaohui Jin at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. My research interest is Cloud Computing(OpenStack) and Virtualization technology(Docker). I was a intern in Ericssion R&D Center during 2014.7-2014.12.

Zhao Yusu received B.S. degree in 2012 and now is a PhD candidate both in SKL, EE, SJTU. He joins OMNILab since 2011.5. He assisted in building the log analysis platform based on Hadoop & MongoDB. When practicing Apache Storm, he developed one network monitoring application based on sFlow and one network trouble shooting application based on OpenFlow. His research interests include software-define network, network monitoring.
I am currently a master student at the OMNILAB under the supervisor of professor Jin.
In the past two years, my research interests focus on SDN (software defined networks) and data center networks. Software Defined Network is a new network architecture and provides better network management and higher utilization for data center network, which decouples control plane from data plane. The centralized control of entire network may result in large overhead and limit the scalability of control plane. Besides, the overhead of the data plane is also what I care about. In short, I do some researches in this hot field and have a little achievement.
My name is Bin Zhang. Now, I am a Master candidate with Prof. Yaohui Jin at Shanghai Jiao Tong Univ. I received my B.S. (2014) of Information Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong Univ, Shanghai, China. My research interest is Context Aware Computing and Time Series Data Mining for the Internet of Things. I’m also interested in the Message Queue such as MQTT Protocol and Message Broker RabbitMQ.
I am a PHD candidate with Prof. Yaohui Jin of OMNILab at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. I received my B.Sc. degree of Electronic Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China in 2013.
My research area is massive spatial-temporal data mining. My research interest is to discover interesting and worthy knowledge from multi-source data including mobile network log, GPS trajectory, meteorology data and other sources acquired from Internet and sensors. I focus on the cross-domain statistical models and machine learning algorithms for multi-source data using distributed system such as Apache Hadoop and Apache Spark, additionally visualizing the data in a proper way to get insights and make them easier for human to understand.
During part time, I’d like to watch movies, go to KTV for singing, play Chinese chess. I also like doing exercises such as running, spinning which makes me feel comfortable.
I am now a Ph.D. candidate with Prof. Yaohui Jin at Shanghai Jiao Tong Univ.. I received my B.S. (2010) of Optical Information and Science Technology at Xidian University, Xi’an, China.
My research area is the measurement and analysis of mobile network traffic, especially on the renewed models and characteristics of networks traffic, employing statistical and machine learning techniques on distributed processing platforms such as Apache Spark. Based on the large scale observation of human movement and interests in mobile networks, the current topic I am engaging in is analyzing and understanding human spatial and temporal behaviours from networking perspective. The derived results are essential to uncover the general patterns and universal laws of human mobility, and are also promising for the optimization and future protocol designs in mobile networks.
Joined OMNILab in 2009 as a senior student majoring in Electronic Engineering in Shanghai Jiaotong University, and continued research as a PhD candidate in SJTU after graduated in 2010. My main research interest is in Cloud technology and data center network optimization. Several research projects have been conducted during the last 3 years focusing on network virtualization, software defined network and large scale network measurement & analysis, including:
— Partial link monitoring for multi-domain data network routing.
— Dynamic access allocation for bandwidth guarantee in cloud network.
— Bridging techniques for various network virtualization technologies with software defined network.
— Statistical prediction for noisy-neighbour in cloud network
— Big data analysis for on-line network measurement
We built a private cloud based on OpenStack, an open source cloud platform, to better support the operation and experiment needs in the lab, and analyze the cloud performance in the meanwhile. And while the cloud is supporting many services including big data analysis for the lab, it also generate large amount of logs, monitoring information and traffic traces to be analyzed itself. Thus we apply big data techniques in return to better process the measured data in cloud, which provides detailed performance profiling in both network, storage and computing resources.
